Today, we are proud to announce the release of Alba Board 2.1.4, a critical update that marks a significant milestone in the maturity of our technical architecture.

Proactive Auditing and Expert Collaboration

Recently, we had the valuable opportunity to collaborate with the security research team at Wordfence, the undisputed global authority on WordPress security. During a comprehensive audit of our codebase, they identified key areas to further harden how our system handles user authorization when interacting with board cards via the REST API.

We view security reports not as setbacks, but as essential stress tests that allow our system to grow stronger.

A Systemic and Pragmatic Response

True to our operational objectives of minimizing unnecessary complexity and guaranteeing stability, our engineering team implemented an immediate and structural remediation. The key improvements in versions 2.1.3 and 2.1.4 include:

• Strict REST API Enforcement: We have fully decoupled our security checks from legacy dependencies, reinforcing our modern REST endpoints with unconditional and absolute capability validations (edit_cards) across all contexts.
• Advanced Token Management: We optimized the emission of security nonces at the UI layer, ensuring that only authorized board participants receive access to data communication channels, maintaining a clean UX with zero cognitive load for the user.
• Enriched Data Export Engine: Taking advantage of this iteration cycle, we completely overhauled our CSV and JSON export engines. Board backups now capture the complete operational picture: assignees, due dates, smart tags, attachment URLs, and the full history of card conversations.
